The Argyle Parks Board unanimously approved a list of rules for the Argyle Nature Trail at its Oct. 14 meeting. The small park is behind the shopping centers at Hwy 377 and Cook Street in Old Town Argyle. Board members discussed the signs that will display the rules and some lighting suggestions before voting.
According to town documents, visitors must stay on the paved trail, pick up after their pets and keep pets leashed. Bicycles and motorized vehicles are not allowed on the trail. Glass containers, alcoholic beverages, fireworks, firearms and smoking are also prohibited. Camping is not allowed, and group events require a permit from the town. The park is expected to be open from sunrise to sunset.
The town said pavement for the trail was poured in mid-October. The trail will eventually run from the back of the new Argyle Marketplace development to Little Joe's Farmstead. Mayor Ron Schmidt has said he envisions the trail as a site for the Argyle Farmers Market and a veterans memorial. The park will be part of the Town Center district.
