Piedad Arebalo started working Potter County elections in 1972, after friends told her the county was hiring for an upcoming election. She was assigned to the Bowie Middle School polling location, where she often interpreted for Spanish-speaking voters. In 2026, she is set to complete 54 years as a county elections clerk, with more than 100 elections worked.

Arebalo said she considers her work for the county a vacation. Election clerks greet voters, scan IDs, check voters in and supervise the voting process. Arebalo said clerks often get to know voters over the years. "You become like a family. It's just community," she said.

Abel Bosquez has worked as an elections worker off and on since 1980. He said he has worked so often at the Casey Carpet One voting location that some voters think he is an employee. Christy Benge, the Potter County Elections Administrator, said it is refreshing when the same workers return because they are experienced.
