Houston City Council is considering eleven locations for landmark or protected landmark status. The council could vote on the properties within the next couple of weeks.

The proposed sites include two churches, several houses and the First National Bank on Main Street downtown. If approved, the protected locations would be eligible for a historic tax exemption, reduced parking requirements and protection from demolition.
