Construction has started on a 685,000-square-foot casino in Leggett. The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe broke ground on the Naskila Casino Resort in June. The resort is planned to include more than 300 hotel rooms, dining, a pool and conference facilities.

The tribe expects the resort to open in late 2028. It plans to offer about 3,400 electronic bingo machines, roughly 35,000 square feet of event and conference space, a grand ballroom, bars, lounges and restaurants at launch. The tribe has operated the Naskila Casino in Livingston for 10 years.

A temporary facility, Naskila Casino Leggett, is open at the site. It is open 24 hours and has 300 electronic bingo machines. According to the report, traditional slots, blackjack and roulette require a tribal-state agreement, and Texas has not yet entered one.
