Wheelcraft Studio, run by Megan Jacobsen in Keller, is marking its first year. Jacobsen, a former Keller ISD art teacher, signed the lease for the warehouse in September 2025. The studio held its soft opening a month later.
The studio offers six-week classes and single-session workshops in ceramics, sewing, stained glass, drawing and painting, with tuition that includes all materials, according to the studio's website. It also offers monthly open studio memberships for independent artists, which Jacobsen said include unlimited studio hours, shelf storage, firing services and glazes. Free weekly art clubs are also offered.
Jacobsen said she was inspired by requests from parents of her former students and by a gap she saw between casual painting events and serious art instruction. She said the studio has about 60 members and hopes to reach 100 by its second anniversary.
During Thanksgiving weekend, the studio will hold holiday craft workshops on Black Friday, Nov. 27, and Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28, with registration fees starting at $10. A free pop-up market featuring member work will be held Nov. 28. The next six-week classes begin Jan. 3.
