The KFOX14 Severe Weather Team has issued a weather alert through Saturday. Showers and storms are expected to bring periods of heavy rain to parts of the Borderland on Thursday and Friday.

The station said moisture linked to Tropical Storm Vance is expected to move north from Mexico and combine with a passing weather disturbance. Vance is forecast to weaken as it moves along Mexico's western coast, but some of its moisture could still reach the Borderland.

A marginal flash flood risk, rated 1 out of 4, includes El Paso, Las Cruces and parts of southern New Mexico. Heavy downpours could cause localized flooding, especially where storms repeatedly pass over the same areas or where drainage is poor. KFOX14 urged residents to stay weather aware, check for updates, and never drive through floodwater. If a road is flooded, drivers should turn around.
