Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a candidate for U.S. Senate, canceled his planned Tyler campaign stop on Thursday. The event had been set for 1836 Texas Kitchen at 11:30 a.m., ahead of the last day of early voting.
David Stein, chairman of the Smith County Republican Party, confirmed the change in a press release Thursday morning. Paxton will now appear with Vice President J.D. Vance in Weatherford at 12:15 p.m. at the JRJ Construction Inc. building, then hold a rally in Beaumont at 5:30 p.m. at Jack Brooks Regional Airport. Stein said registered supporters should have received a cancellation notice last week from Paxton's campaign team.
Paxton has visited Tyler several times this year, including during Vance's October visit to the city. Stein said in a statement that Smith County and East Texas have supported Paxton and that the area has seen him many times during the campaign. Democratic nominee and State Rep. James Talarico has also held rallies in Tyler this year.
