Two men were arrested in Mission after another person was caught trying to bring cocaine through the Anzalduas International Bridge and led authorities to a stash house, according to a criminal complaint. Carlos Guadalupe Bautista and Sergio Enrique Navarro have been charged with possession with intent to distribute about 121 pounds of cocaine, the complaint said.
The complaint said Homeland Security Investigations McAllen responded to the bridge on Oct. 13 about a smuggler carrying 14 pounds of cocaine. That person told agents a Mission residence was used to unload drugs, the complaint said.
Agents later watched the residence on a Friday. The complaint said they saw a white Cadillac and a white Dodge Charger leave the area, and that the vehicles were stopped by law enforcement. The complaint said Bautista was driving the Charger and Navarro was his passenger, and that a K-9 unit alerted officers to the vehicle. Officers found a duct-tape-wrapped brick in a backpack under the hood, the complaint said. Both men were arrested.
