The FBI Dallas office and its law enforcement partners arrested 186 people and identified or located 49 child victims during Operation Summer Heat 2.0, according to a Tuesday announcement. The four-month effort involved federal, state and local agencies and ran from June 1 to September 20.
During the operation, agents sought federal warrants against violent criminals and fugitives and seized illegal firearms and narcotics tied to gangs and transnational criminal organizations. Officials reported seizing 121 illegal firearms, 1.2 kilograms of fentanyl and 33 kilograms of cocaine. North Texas law enforcement also obtained 169 indictments and 71 convictions in cases involving violent crime.
FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock said the agency's violent crime strategy depends on its partnerships with local, state and federal agencies. Nationwide, the operation reported 8,927 arrests, 5,013 illegally possessed firearms recovered and 1,410 child victims identified or located. The announcement follows the FBI's release of its 2025 Uniform Crime Reporting summary.
