Two men were arrested on suspicion of stealing oil and gas equipment valued at $10,000 to $100,000, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report. The Reeves County Sheriff's Office contacted a DPS special agent on Oct. 16 about the case.

A deputy told DPS that a $35,000 Coriolis meter had gone missing from an energy transfer location in Upton County. An Apple AirTag on the meter showed it was on Soto Avenue in Odessa. A woman at the property gave investigators permission to search it, and they found the meter in the carport and several others in the backyard, the report said.

Jesus Jose Terrazas Marquez told investigators he found the meter at his home on Oct. 13, the report said. The report states the tracking device was not placed on the meter until Oct. 16. Victor Manuel Mendoza Meza denied any involvement, but photos of the meter were on his phone, according to the report.

Both men were arrested and booked into the Ector County jail on Oct. 17. Marquez was released to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Meza was released after posting a $25,000 surety bond.
