A fight broke out between spectators at a Saturday evening 12-and-under girls' softball tournament game at Imperial Park in Sugar Land on October 24. One man was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury. Sugar Land police arrested Kiarious Hall and his wife, Jazmine Hall. Kiarious Hall faces two counts of assault causing bodily injury, and Jazmine Hall faces one count. Both were booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.

Steve Shellist, the attorney for the injured man, said his client remains hospitalized with a skull fracture, a fractured cheekbone, three brain bleeds and a blood clot. Shellist said he expects the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office to raise the current misdemeanor charges to a felony. He said a strike with an object capable of causing serious bodily injury or death is an aggravated assault.

According to charging documents, police reviewed witness video showing three men arguing before Kiarious Hall swung a metal water bottle into a man's face. Police said the man fell to the ground and lost consciousness. Police said it is unclear from the video whether that man had touched Hall first. Court documents say Hall then swung the bottle again, starting a physical struggle with the other man.
