Sul Ross State University International held a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for Fort Duncan Hall in Eagle Pass on Friday, October 30, 2026, according to the Eagle Pass Business Journal. Administrators, community leaders, public officials, guests and supporters attended.
The ceremony followed a groundbreaking held December 16, 2025, for an all-purpose facility meant to support a four-year university campus in Eagle Pass. University President Dr. Carlos Hernandez and State Representative Eddie Morales were among those who attended that event.
University officials said expanded education in Eagle Pass would let students study without having to move to other communities. Legislative support included House Bill 1022, sponsored by Morales and State Senator César Blanco.
