The Jacksonville ISD Board of Trustees voted Tuesday evening to name Sara Gill as the lone finalist for superintendent. Gill is the district's deputy superintendent.
According to the district, Gill has spent her entire 29-year public education career with Jacksonville ISD, including 18 years in leadership roles. The selection follows Superintendent Brad Stewart's retirement announcement over the summer. Stewart has worked 30 years in the district and is set to retire in December.
The board's action starts a required 21-day public notice period under Texas Government Code Section 552.126. After that period, trustees may consider final employment action at a later meeting. The district said it will provide updates to employees, families and the community as the process continues.
