The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District Education Foundation will hold its second annual Spark Tank event at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at the Burnet High School Auditorium, 1000 The Green Mile.

Spark Tank is modeled on the television show "Shark Tank." Teachers present classroom ideas to a panel of judges. According to Teryl McFerrin, the foundation's vice president of marketing, teachers can receive up to $10,000 in funding for items such as student equipment and educational materials.

McFerrin said last year's projects included podcasting equipment, standing gardens, medical-grade tablets, and virtual reality headsets that let students explore an archaeological dig site. This year, students will join teachers in presenting ideas to the judges. Burnet native Lerin Lockwood, a past winner of "Shark Tank," is among the judges. The event will also feature performances by the choir, band, and cheer team.
