Residents discussed better sight lines, more trails and a possible creek crossing at a public input meeting on the future redesign of Harriet Creek Ranch Park in north Fort Worth. The Phase II meeting was held Oct. 22. Blaise Grissom, project manager with the Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department, and Mackenzie Cejka, a landscape architect with Kimley-Horn, were the main project representatives.
Community members asked whether a bridge could be built over the creek. Grissom said a bridge was part of the 2008 Master Plan at first. He said the park is in a floodplain, so building a bridge would require many studies and could use up the project budget for the study and permit. The city has $425,000 for the current phase of improvements. A community member said a study about 10 years ago estimated the bridge would cost $11 million. Grissom said that study is not part of the project record. The community member did not recall who prepared the budget.
When asked what would make them visit the park more, attendees named walking trails, preferably a loop. One attendee said walking in the neighborhood is hard because of traffic and cars parked on the street.
