Members of the Lubbock community gathered Saturday to celebrate Día de los Muertos and remember loved ones who have died. Resthaven Funeral Home hosted the event and invited local families to take part.
The holiday is a traditional Mexican observance in which families and friends come together to pray for and remember deceased relatives and friends. The celebration included live mariachi music and dance performances by Ballet Folklórico.
Attendees were invited to place photos and mementos of loved ones on a shared community ofrenda, a traditional altar set up to honor their memory.
