At the commission's first meeting of the month on Thursday, October 1, members of the Gray County 4-H Council spoke about the importance of 4-H and its effect on their lives. Joan Gray-Soria, County Extension Agent - Family and Community Health, introduced the council members, who described their projects and their roles on the council. Several said 4-H had taught them responsibility, leadership, time management and how to speak in front of people.
Gray-Soria also told the commission about members' results at the Tri-State Fair. She said more than 20 kids took part this year. Gavin served as a junior fair board director and gave 27 hours of work to the fair, she said. Among the championships she named were Braun Lashmet's junior best overall public speaking award, the sheep championship awards won by Braun and Harper, and best overall junior photo by Raylee Knox. She also named best in show awards for Nicole Price's cooking and Stephanie Price's quilt.
