Amarillo police were called to the Plum Creek Apartments just before 1 a.m. Saturday on reports of a fight and shots fired, according to an arrest report from the Potter County Jail. The report says the incident began with an argument between 18-year-old Nassir Duncan and his girlfriend after they left a party.
Witnesses told officers that Duncan pointed a gun at each person in an apartment and fired a round that went through a window. They also said he threw his 6-month-old child onto a couch during a struggle over the gun. Video obtained by officers shows Duncan holding the baby and the gun while others tried to take it from him, the report said.
Duncan admitted to pointing the gun at the victims and said he had left it behind an air conditioning unit, the report said. He is charged with seven counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, endangering a child and tampering with evidence. He is being held at the Potter County Jail and has been denied bond on each aggravated assault charge.
Another 18-year-old, Cool Pennon, was also arrested. He is charged with aggravated assault causing bodily injury and minor in consumption of alcohol. The report says the gun belonged to Pennon and that he smelled of alcohol. Pennon is out on bond from a previous arrest for intoxication assault, which involves an accusation that he hit a girl with his car in July.
