Caleb Gamblin, an agricultural sciences teacher at Bangs High School, was named the 2027 Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year on Oct. 16. The Texas Association of School Administrators announced the honor at an awards ceremony in Round Rock.
Gamblin said he was surprised when his name was called. He said the recognition made him think about the teachers he has had and the educators he works with every day.
Gamblin said he hopes the award will highlight the work of teachers in every school district. He also said developing character and discipline is central to his role, and that his goal is to show students what hard work and good character look like.
