The Goodrich ISD board discussed athletic facilities, cafeteria pricing and investment options at its regular October meeting. Superintendent Daniel Barton said the slab for a new fieldhouse is complete, with plumbing done, and the district is waiting for the building to arrive. He said the building is expected in the first week of November and that a crew from the manufacturer would erect it. The football field has been crowned, and drainage work is expected to be finished soon. ProTech is scheduled to begin replacing the track after that. Barton said a spring track meet will likely not be held while nearby facilities are still under construction.

Prices for adults who eat in the school cafeteria will go up, while student prices will not change. Finance manager Sarah Bacica and the board discussed the new rates, which take effect immediately. Staff lunch will rise to $5.50 and visitor lunch to $5.75, according to the district. Staff will still receive 25 free meals for the year.

Bacica said the district will review new investment options in the coming days. She said certificates of deposit are currently paying more than 4%, citing 4.14% for a 90-day term and 4.36% for a six-month term. She said no decisions have been made.
