Akylon Benson has been captured in Montgomery County and is being held on a McLennan County warrant alleging a violation of his probation, according to KWTX. After he is extradited to Central Texas, local officials will schedule a bond revocation hearing. Benson remains jailed in Montgomery County while he awaits extradition.
McLennan County Assistant District Attorney Will Hix said investigators tracked Benson after he reactivated an old social media account, which allowed them to trace his whereabouts in Montgomery County. Prosecutors allege that between May and July 2026, Benson violated the terms of his deferred probation by repeatedly posting on a Facebook page using a fictitious persona, Ashley Peña. The District Attorney's Office filed a motion on Aug. 20, 2026, to adjudicate his guilt.
Benson was placed on three years of deferred probation in February 2026 after pleading guilty to exploitation of an elderly person, a third-degree felony. The case involved a live feed of him exploiting a 73-year-old man with dementia in December 2022. State District Judge Thomas C. West signed an arrest warrant on Aug. 28, 2026, and set bond at $250,000. This is a developing story.
