Angleton senior Valentino "Tino" Beacom-Casas has qualified for the state cross country meet. He is the first Angleton High School boy runner to qualify for the state meet in 11 years.
Beacom-Casas transferred from Angleton Christian School to Angleton High School before this school year started. Last year, as a junior at Angleton Christian, he finished third at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) state cross country meet.
The story says that season he did not finish lower than fifth in any of seven 5K races.
