Harlingen Medical Center has received five-star ratings from Healthgrades, a national healthcare research and information company, for pacemaker procedures, diabetic hospitalizations, gastrointestinal care, pneumonia care and hip fracture treatment. The hip fracture rating is the hospital's 20th consecutive year receiving that honor.
The hospital was also named among the top 15% of hospitals in the nation for overall pulmonary services and overall gastrointestinal services. Healthgrades also gave the hospital its 2027 Gastrointestinal Care Excellence Award and its 2027 Pulmonary Care Excellence Award.
The hospital has also consistently received an "A" grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, according to the release.
