A Pasadena family said a fire destroyed their garage on Monday night, leaving them with almost nothing they owned. The father, who asked not to be shown on camera, said he found the garage burned to the ground Tuesday morning. He said the family had been storing a washer, dryer, clothing, toys and music collections there while work was done on their old home.

The father said the family had noticed items going missing from the garage and believed someone was stealing from them. The Pasadena Fire Marshal told ABC13 that a homeless man had been going through the family's belongings and set them on fire. Officials said the man was arrested and faces two charges: burglary and intoxication.

The father said his family had planned to move into a new home. He said his main concern is that his wife and children are safe, and he described his 11-year-old son, who has autism, and his nine-year-old son as having a hard time understanding what happened.
