Woodcreek Mayor Debra Hines announced Friday, Nov. 6, that she will leave the community. Her departure ends her time as mayor before her term was set to finish in November 2027.
Hines grew up in Wimberley and moved back to the area in 2020. She was elected to the Woodcreek City Council in 2021 and re-elected in 2023. After a 2025 campaign, voters chose her as mayor. In an email to residents, she thanked those who supported her, said she had met many neighbors and accomplished many things for the city, and said Woodcreek will always hold a special place in her heart.
Hines's tenure will end this month. According to city office administrator Taffy Barker, a special election for the mayor's seat will be held in May.
