About 10 East Texans gathered at Marvin Methodist Church in Tyler to learn how to make advance preparations for end-of-life arrangements. Michael Brosang, owner of Brosang Family Funeral and Cremation Services, was the keynote speaker. He said pre-planning makes difficult choices simpler and sets up financial preparedness before a crisis.

Attendee Brenda Wickware said the session gave her practical steps, including options for pre-paying expenses and writing her own obituary in advance. She said it is best to make plans while in good health and to become comfortable with the idea of death.

The event was held in partnership with NET Health, Brosang Family Funeral and Cremation Services, and the East Texas Center for Independent Living. The organizations plan to hold their next lunch-and-learn session in early December.
