Mineola students and residents marked homecoming last week with dress-up days, a community pep rally, a downtown parade and a football game. Each Mineola ISD campus planned its own dress-up themes, and celebrations began Tuesday because Monday was a fall break day.
The district held a community pep rally Friday at Meredith Memorial Stadium, where Mineola's cheer teams performed. Students were released early for a 3 p.m. parade along East Broad Street in downtown Mineola. Participants included the Sound of the Swarm Mineola Band, Mayor Jayne Lankford, local youth programs and class royalty.
At halftime of Friday's homecoming game against Rains, Jarexi Delgadillo and Daysen Cook were crowned homecoming queen and king. The game also marked the 10th anniversary of Mineola's 2016 state championship football team. The Yellowjackets led Rains 35-13 at halftime.
