Democrats won the U.S. House and Senate in the election, according to the analysis from Marfa Public Radio. The analysis said the scale of the Democratic victories was larger than many had expected.

A voter poll commissioned by the broadcast networks and the Associated Press found that 62% of voters disapproved of President Trump's job performance. The poll also found that two-thirds of voters said Trump's policies had made economic conditions worse. Trump's approval ratings had fallen from 48% to as low as 36% in an average of polls since the Iran war, the analysis said.

The analysis said Trump encouraged conservative-led states to redistrict over the past year to gain more Republican House seats. It said that effort backfired, particularly in south Texas, where some safe districts became competitive. The analysis said Texas Republicans' gerrymandering did not pay off, in part because Latino voters did not vote in the expected numbers.
