A Laredo jury has found Customs and Border Protection officer Eliomar Santos guilty on all four counts, according to KGNS. The charges include assault causing bodily injury, unlawful restraint, and interference with an emergency request for assistance. One count is a third-degree felony.
Prosecutors told jurors that Santos assaulted a woman at her home in 2022, handcuffed her and held her in a closet. They said he kept her from calling for help. The defense argued that Santos acted in self-defense and asked jurors to acquit him.
The jury will now deliberate on sentencing.
