The 15th annual Picayune-KBEY Food Drive was held Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Marble Falls and Burnet fire stations from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations went to local food pantries, The Helping Center and LACare, ahead of the holiday season.

About 2,000 pounds of food and $4,935 in monetary donations were collected across the two locations, according to the organizers.

Mandi Goldsmith, publisher of Victory Media, said the drive showed the generosity of the community. KBEY 103.9 FM host Mac McClennahan said the sponsors, the community and the fire departments all helped make the event work. He said cash donations would help the food pantries stretch their funds.

Organizers said Thanksgiving and Christmas are often critical times for food pantries in the Highland Lakes, especially as the number of families they serve continues to grow.
