The annual Community Thanksgiving Feast will be held Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mabee University Center at Howard Payne University, 1219 Fisk Street in Brownwood. Area residents and visitors are invited. The lunch is free, but donations are accepted.
North Lake Community Church leads and coordinates the event. Pastor Ron Keener said last year's attendance was the largest ever, with more than 2,500 meals served and 143 community volunteers. The traditional meal will include turkey, dressing and all the trimmings.
Volunteers will deliver meals in Brownwood and Early, up to 10 per household. Delivery reservations can be made by texting 325-200-3445 from Nov. 9 until noon on Nov. 23. Dessert is not included with delivery meals. Volunteers should arrive at the Mabee Center at 9:30 a.m. Donations can be mailed to Katrina Lynn at Howard Payne University or brought to the Mabee Center on Thanksgiving Day.
