Reed Resale, a downtown Abilene shop, is a consignment hybrid with an online boutique, according to owner Allie Reed. Clients bring in women's clothing to sell. The store photographs and posts the items online, then splits the proceeds with the client.

Reed said the business started as a side project in her garage in April. After the space filled up, she connected with Support Small Business of Abilene and found a downtown storefront. The idea came when her mother asked her to sell some clothes on Facebook Marketplace.

Reed said the store gives shoppers distinctive pieces at lower prices and helps clients get more use from clothes they already own. The store reaches buyers through an online group with nearly 6,000 members. Reed said the shop aims for a quick turnaround, getting items posted and money to clients as soon as possible. She has worked in the boutique business for 12 years.
