American Airlines opened four of 10 new gates in the Terminal A pier at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on Oct. 21. The gates are A10, A11, A13 and A15. The airline said the other six will open over the next few weeks as part of the pier expansion, which adds 140,000 square feet.

American said the pier will make Terminal A its busiest terminal, with more than 200 departures on peak days. The pier has power outlets at every seat, electronic boarding gates, and more dining and shopping options. Work started in 2024 and used modular construction, with sections built on campus and then moved to the pier.

Jim Moses, American's senior vice president of DFW Hub Operations, said the investment is about strengthening the airline's network and the travel experience. Kenneth Buchanan, DFW Airport's executive vice president and chief revenue officer, said the expansion is meant to improve the experience for travelers. A separate 31-gate Terminal F, which American said will be its flagship terminal, is expected to be completed next year.
