Chelsy Gann, director of the Petroleum Professional Development Center at Midland College, has been elected West Region Representative for the Texas Administrators of Continuing Education (TACE), a statewide organization focused on continuing and workforce education, according to a news release.
In the role, Gann will represent continuing education professionals across West Texas, including Midland-Odessa, El Paso and much of the Texas Panhandle. She will help facilitate communication among institutions and encourage collaboration and advocacy for programs that respond to the changing needs of Texas communities and employers.
Gann said she saw an opportunity to grow professionally while giving back to the organization and field. "I wanted to be a strong voice for Midland College and continuing education programs throughout our region," she said. She said the role comes as higher education responds to changes in state funding, advancing technologies and rising demand for flexible workforce training.
TACE provides a statewide network for professionals to exchange ideas and address emerging challenges. The organization also advocates for adequate funding and supports partnerships between community colleges and the businesses and industries that rely on them for workforce training.
