Federal Election Commission data show Democrat James Talarico raised $140.3 million from Jan. 1, 2025, through Oct. 14, 2026. Republican Ken Paxton raised $21.6 million over the same period. According to FEC records, Talarico raised about $6.50 for every dollar Paxton raised.
NBC News reported that Talarico's $64 million raised in the third quarter was the largest ever raised by a U.S. Senate candidate in a third quarter. He also set records in the first and second quarters of the year.
FEC data show individual donors made up 99.6% of Talarico's fundraising and 97.8% of Paxton's. Individual contributions are limited to $3,500 per election, and the primary and general elections count as separate elections. Political action committees gave much smaller amounts. The story notes that outside groups called super PACs can raise and spend unlimited amounts, which can change the financial picture of the race.
