Wood County deputies arrested Weldon Ray Powell in Quitman, Texas, after a welfare check. He is charged with murder, according to Wood County Sheriff Kelly Cole.
Cole said the victim is Britany May Powell, Weldon Powell's wife. Deputies began the investigation on November 4 after responding to a welfare concern call on CR 1226. When they arrived, they found circumstances that led them to believe a possible crime had occurred.
During the investigation, deputies found the body of the victim.
