Workforce Solutions South Plains will host its Hiring Red, White & You! job fair for veterans and military families on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the MCM Elegante Hotel & Suites, 801 Avenue Q in Lubbock. The day before Veterans Day, the free event is designed for veterans, National Guard members, reservists, military spouses and their families. It is also open to all job seekers. Veterans may enter starting at 10 a.m., the general public at 11 a.m., and the fair runs until 3 p.m.
Employers from a range of industries across the South Plains will be hiring for entry-level, specialized and licensed positions. Job seekers should bring copies of an updated resume and dress professionally. No registration is required.
Dr. Ben Alexander, CEO of Workforce Solutions South Plains, said the event is a way of thanking veterans. He said employers report that when they hire a veteran, they get a better-quality worker. He also said veterans who build careers in the area tend to stay and invest in the community.
The fair is presented in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission, the Texas Veterans Commission and the Texas Medical Center. The Lubbock event is one of 29 Hiring Red, White & You! events held across Texas between Nov. 3 and Nov. 19. The statewide program has connected veterans with Texas employers since 2012.
