Harrison County, Marion County and the city of Hallsville have ended their outdoor burn bans. Harrison County commissioners first put their ban in place on Aug. 13.
Harrison County's termination order said rainfall over the past couple of days and the forecast for the week brought improved conditions. The order said the decision followed consultation with the county fire marshal, who reported that conditions had improved.
Marion County Judge Leward LaFleur announced Wednesday that the county's ban was ending because circumstances and rainfall totals had improved. In Hallsville, City Fire Marshal Mason Beatty announced that the city's ban was lifted effective Wednesday. The city's order said conditions needed for the ban no longer existed, based on the fire marshal's recommendation. Hallsville adopted its ban on Oct. 1.
