NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 have again partnered with The Salvation Army of North Texas on the Angel Tree Program. The program provides gifts for children, seniors, and adults with special needs, based on donations from the public.
Each registered Angel has a wish list, and donors can choose gifts from it. Items range from hygiene products and clothing to toys, games, and sports equipment. People can adopt an Angel online or at select retail stores. Donors can also adopt a Forgotten Angel, one that was adopted but did not receive a gift. The last day to adopt is Saturday, December 5. Donors must pack each gift by Angel with the matching tag and drop it at a Salvation Army location. Select retail stores will also accept gifts during a mall drop-off weekend on Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5. The Salvation Army will distribute gifts to families across North Texas from December 14 to 22.
People who cannot adopt an Angel can volunteer to sort and prepare gifts or make a donation. The Salvation Army of North Texas runs 21 centers in Dallas, Rockwall, Tarrant, Ellis, Denton, and Collin counties. More information is available at SalvationArmyNorthTexas.org.
