Candidates who won their races in the 2026 general election on Tuesday, Nov. 3, said they are ready to carry on or begin serving their constituents. They also thanked voters.
According to Val Verde County Clerk Teresa Esther Chapoy, 11,980 of the county's 31,038 registered voters had participated so far, or 38.6 percent. Chapoy said 102 mail-in ballots remain outstanding and will be counted if they arrive by 5 p.m. Nov. 9.
Supporters gathered outside the Val Verde County Courthouse after polls closed at 7 p.m. Chapoy, her elections deputy, Cynthia Reyes, and the Republican and Democratic party chairs announced unofficial results at 9:20 p.m. The results will not be official until the county commissioners court canvasses them on Nov. 12. Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 winner Ashly Vicuña celebrated with family and friends outside the courthouse.
