Round Rock residents who receive city utility services could see higher bills starting Nov. 1, when new rates take effect. Residential water, wastewater and stormwater rates will rise by about 6%. Trash fees for residential refuse service will rise by just under 4%.

City officials approved the higher fees earlier this year, citing higher operational costs and a request from Republic Services, the city's refuse service provider. Public Works Director Michael Thane said the water-related increase is tied to higher electricity costs the city pays to pump and move water.

Thane said the approved three-year rate update also calls for an increase of 3% to 5% each year for the next two years.
