A SWAT team used tear gas Tuesday night to enter a home in the 4200 block of Olive Street in Texarkana, Texas, and take a suspect into custody, according to a news release from the Bowie County Sheriff's Office. Henry Bintliff Pearson, 57, was arrested on charges of repeated violation of a protective order and evading arrest. He is being held on a $175,000 bond.

Officers had been trying to locate Pearson on Tuesday on an outstanding felony warrant for repeated violation of a court order. Police said he was found in his backyard Tuesday evening but allegedly ran into his home when Texarkana police made contact with him. Police said he had fortified the home with a 6-foot chain link fence covered in "no peek" fabric.

According to the release, Pearson's behavior toward certain people had allegedly escalated, and the protective order had allegedly done little to curb it. Texarkana Texas Police Department and Bowie County Sheriff's Office personnel kept a perimeter around the home and made several attempts to get Pearson to surrender, but he refused. After tear gas was put into the home, the SWAT team entered and arrested him without further incident. He was booked into the Bowie County jail at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The sheriff's office thanked the Texarkana Texas Police Department for its continued support of area law enforcement. The release said the incident was resolved without injury to anyone involved.
