The city of Midland has issued a proclamation to Midland Veterans Partnership ahead of its second Veterans Day parade, which is set for Saturday, Nov. 7. The proclamation also lists additional schedule details for the event.
Mayor Lori Blong said in the proclamation that the group will host a parade and community cookout on the Saturday before Veterans Day each year as an ongoing tradition. She encouraged residents to attend and honor veterans. Galen Bock, commander of Midland Veterans Partnership, said participation has almost doubled from last year.
The parade will begin at 1 p.m. on A Street between Elk Street and Illinois Avenue and end at 3 p.m. After a one-hour break, the celebration opens at Centennial Park. It will include 2,000 free hot dogs, veterans resources and a children's area. A fireworks show begins at 7 p.m., followed by a concert by the Eli Young Band.
Bock said the event is open to the public and free. The city gave the group a proclamation before its first parade in 2025.
