After Gerard Edimo suffered a season-ending injury on Sept. 19, Cameron Kelley stepped in at tight end for SFA. Kelley said he tries to follow Edimo's example and help the team win. He said Edimo still offers support and advice, including to "Don't slack" and to be a leader.
Head coach Colby Carthel said the injury gave Kelley more playing time and a larger role in the offense. Kelley had been used in the team's 12-personnel package and is now the primary tight end, Carthel said.
Carthel said Kelley came to SFA as a receiver and switched positions as his body developed and he committed to the weight room. Carthel said Kelley is now an all-conference tight end for the Lumberjacks.
