A Lufkin man is in the Polk County Jail after an attempted vehicle burglary in the parking lot of the Livingston Walmart Supercenter, according to a Facebook post from the Livingston Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the store around 3 p.m. Monday for a burglary in progress. When they arrived, they found Nicolas Williams, 36, of Lufkin, detained by a bystander and an off-duty Polk County sheriff's deputy, the post said. Police determined Williams parked next to a truck, opened its door and removed property, the post said. The truck's owner confronted him nearby, and the off-duty deputy helped hold him until officers arrived.

Williams was being held in the Polk County Jail late Monday on a vehicle burglary charge, police said.
