Lufkin police are treating the shooting deaths of a man and a woman at a home in the 900 block of Third Street as a capital murder case, according to a press release from Jackie Zimmerman, public relations specialist for the Lufkin Police Department.
Zimmerman said officers were called to the home around 1 p.m. Friday and found Maria Davalos, 61, and Ariel Arellano Jr., 32, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Autopsies are being conducted to determine the cause of their deaths. The 911 caller was Davalos's son.
Zimmerman said the Texas Rangers were asked to help because they have access to technology that can aid the investigation. Police have not released information about a suspect or a motive.
