CHRISTUS Health Sulphur Springs said it completed its first da Vinci robotic-assisted surgical procedure. Urologic oncologist Dr. Randy Vince performed the surgery on Oct. 20.
The hospital said the da Vinci system lets Vince perform advanced procedures that were not previously available at the hospital. Vince said the technology allows patients who might otherwise need to travel outside the area to receive care closer to home.
According to the hospital, the system gives surgeons robotic-assisted instruments and a high-definition, three-dimensional view of the surgical area. It supports precise movements and can help surgeons perform complex procedures through small incisions when appropriate.
The hospital said the procedure reflects its continued investment in advanced technology and specialty services in Northeast Texas.
