The Living Legacy Center serves senior citizens, veterans, people with physical or intellectual disabilities, and their families. Volunteers can email info@livinglegacycenter.com. Its Oasis Gardens needs help planting, maintaining and harvesting produce. The center is also taking coats for the Santa Maria Hostel coat drive and food and pantry items for the Oxford House Pantry Drive.
Mesa Outreach runs a community food pantry, school supply and book programs, and extra food during the holidays. Cypress Assistance Ministries, a faith-based nonprofit, helps families facing eviction, seniors needing food delivery and job seekers. Boys & Girls Country provides homes for children ages 5 to 18 and accepts new or gently used items. Families Helping Families, which provides Thanksgiving food, runs its annual distribution Nov. 19-21 and needs 600 volunteers.
