West Texas oil billionaire Tim Dunn has donated $5 million this election cycle to the Great Lakes Conservative Fund, a super PAC supporting Republican Mike Rogers' U.S. Senate campaign in Michigan. The story says Dunn has spent more than $30 million backing Texas Republicans over the years.

Dunn gave the money in two $2.5 million installments in April and June of last year. According to a mid-year report filed July 31 with the Federal Election Commission, those donations made up more than 98% of the PAC's fundraising in the first half of 2025.

Rogers is running against Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, who leads in the latest polls, according to the story. The Cook Political Report rates the race "Lean Democratic." Democratic primary rival Haley Stevens recently endorsed Rogers. She had previously called Rogers a "nightmare" and a "rubber stamp" for President Donald Trump's agenda.
