The University of Texas at Austin has introduced UT Dell Medicine, its academic health system. The name will also apply to the existing clinical practice and ambulatory surgery center, previously known as UT Health Austin. The system is anchored by Dell Medical School.

UT Dell Medicine plans a future cornerstone, UT Dell Medical Center, which is set to open in 2030. UT Austin said the center will focus on five areas: cardiovascular, cancer, neurological and transplant care, and advanced intensive care. Through a collaboration with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, MD Anderson physicians will be embedded in care delivery.

UT Austin President Jim Davis said the system brings the full strength of the university to patients. Claudia Lucchinetti, M.D., executive vice president for medical affairs and executive leader of UT Dell Medicine, presented the name and logo at an unveiling at the Health Transformation Building. Once fully operational, the system plans to double its clinical capability and more than triple its patient volumes, the university said.
